It's been 10 years since Steve Jobs introduced the world to the Original iPhone. He changed EVERYTHING with that phone. Apple created new industries and made our lives a whole lot more fun! Now its 2017 and Apple wants to do it again with the announcement of the iPhone X. So many new features and I'm SOOO EXCITED!!! The iPhone X, pronounced 10, is a major redesign for Apple with many exclusive features like the OLED screen, Face ID, wireless charging, and much more. The ScreenThe most obvious change to the iPhone X is the screen. No more home button, bezel or Touch ID. It has a 5.8 inch Super Retina OLED HDR display with a 2436-by-1125-pixel resolution at 458 ppi. It also has a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio and its just beautiful. The iPhone X is about the size of the iPhone 8 but has a screen thats larger than the iPhone 8 Plus, thanks to the all-screen OLED. Bye Bye Home Button and Touch ID. Hello Face IDMy first reaction when I heard no more Touch ID or Home Button was "WTF Apple first my headphone jack now this?" Well after they started explaining Face ID it didn't seem that bad. So Face ID "projects and analyzes more than 30,000 invisible dots to create a precise depth map of your face". Basically what they're saying is that someone can't enter your phone using a picture of you. Apple even showed in the presentation how they worked with Hollywood artist to test the Face ID on very realistic face masks. They were very realistic and creeped me out. My next concern was "what if I change my look?". They answered it. The phone adapts to changes in my face over time using Adaptive Recognition of the A11 Bionic Chip Neural Engine. Apple is saying that there is only a 1 in 1,000,000 chance that a random person can unlock your phone using Face ID. Touch ID was 1 in 50,000. So it seems safer so far. I still want to get my hands on the iPhone X before I make a judgement on it. Wireless Charging with QiFINALLY we get wireless charging. I was half expecting Apple to complicate wireless charging by making some special Apple accessories that ONLY work with Apple devices and cost 100's of dollars. Thankfully wireless charging works with Qi accessories so if you already have Mophie, Belkin charging mats around the house like a lot of us do you're good to go for wireless charging. They did show us a preview of what they call the "AirPower Mat" which is set to release in 2018. Its essentially a charging mat that can charge an iPhone, Apple Watch and your AirPods simultaneously. The Cameras just got a even BETTERMy favorite part is the cameras!! The iPhone X has a 12MP True Depth dual camera that is vertical instead of horizontal and has dual optical image stabilization. The Dual optical image stabilization is going to help further reduce the motion blur caused by shakiness. This will result in sharper images even in low light situations. They have also introduced a Quad-LED True Tone Flash with slow sync. Which in theory should help improve the consistency of light in your pictures. Personally, I never use the built-in flash so I don't care about this feature much but it may be very useful to some of you! Recently I have found myself wanting to have portrait mode when using the front facing camera and they did it. You can now use Portrait and the new Portrait Lighting mode on the front and rear cameras in the iPhone X. The all-new Portrait Lighting mode for your still pictures allows you to adjust the depth of field right from the Camera App with 5 different lighting styles. It looked pretty impressive. Basically giving your studio quality shots from your iPhone! Will this make you a professional photographer? Probably not. Something I have been experimenting with recently is slow-motion video so I'm a little too excited to try out the 1080p at 240fps slo-mo recording on this camera. My current iPhone 7 Plus can do 1080p at 120fps or 720p at 240fps. iPhone X has also introduced 4K at 60fps. I've been shooting a lot in 4K lately and for some of the effects I want 60fps looks wayyyyyy better in my opinion. Can't wait to try it out! Tech Specs of Camera
Animoji the Emoji killer??I'm not sure how I feel about this feature. Its basically emojis that are animated using the TrueDepth camera. The camera analyzes more than 50 muscle movements and mirrors your expressions onto the 12 emojis. I'm sure this creepy feature will catch on and more Animojis will be added. I'm also pretty confident all the other platforms are going to jump on this bandwagon. Seriously a little creeped out by how accurate this feature was with recognizing facial expressions. YES the poop emoji is part of the initial 12 animojis!! lol A11 Bionic Chip"The most powerful and smartest chip" powers the iPhone X. 600 billion operations per second. Up to 70% faster than A10 Fusion. You will also get up to 30% faster graphics with the Apple designed GPU. This will be great for augmented reality apps. Apple has introduced a Neural Engine that is purpose built for machine learning. It's a type of Artificial Intelligence that helps with things like the adaptive learning that Face ID uses. Looking forward to see what developers can do with all this technology. Is it worth Upgrading???HELL YES even for iPhone 7 Plus users like me. I personally haven't been this excited about an iPhone release since the iPhone 4. Even with a starting price of $999 for the 64GB and $1,149 for the 256GB its well worth the money. Which iPhone are you going to be getting??
